1:05 pm - update
sorry it's taken me so long to update... life has been a rollercoaster! (in a good way)

There was a big fight in the unit Dad is in, and subsequently, the entire unit is on lockdown. I think it's supposed to be for 30 days, but if anything happens (an incident of any sort) they get "reset" back to week one, day one of lockdown. As of April 16th, they were reset again.

So, not only is Dad in personal lockdown, so is everyone else. He's dying for books!!! He did say there was a couple of benefits to being in lockdown: he doesn't have to go out & work in the fields, and since commissary isn't an option, no one has to pay extortion to the gangs.

If you get some extra time, try to drop him a letter or send him a book... basically all he has to pass the time is reading... and he's got very little new material to read.

I finally updated the books from dad's letter... the site is a little more centralized now & hopefully easier to deal with. Click on an author or book to get more information from Barnes & Noble.com... and it will also give you the option to buy online & have everything shipped directly.

Let me know if you send anything so I can update the site accordingly.

update:

Dad cannot have contact visits while in lockdown. He's a tad bitter about the past visitation record (which he hints has been around nill).

He got lockdown because he made a joking comment to a female guard in the unit which she misconstrued as a threat on her life. He says the female guards are a bit paranoid & will write them up for just about anything. He has subsequently been transferred to Medium Custody.

He doesn't know if he will be transferred to another unit or not... but it is highly possible.

He sent me a list of books he has read/wants... I'll be updating the lists in the next week or so.

Talked to Laura today... Dad's in lockdown status for the next year. This means he only gets to leave his cell to shower and eat. That also means no visitation. I'm not sure if this will have any affect on what we can send him in terms of books, etc... but I'll try to find out.
